PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have evidence of leadership skills, successful interpersonal relations, and accepted increased responsibility in supervision, and education of staff. At least five (3) years recent experience as a Surgical Tech and/or proof of successful completion from a Surgical Technology program.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1 * Serves as a clinical resource person for staff, new orientees and students.
a. Maintains current knowledge and clinical skills.
b. Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures.
c. Supports all nursing department programs.
d. Assists the Charge RN, RN Clinical Manager, and Department Director, as needed.
2 Performs general and unit-specific skills independently.
3 Identifies and conveys unit education needs to the appropriate resource person.
4 Assists in the orientation of new staff.
5 * Report to your scheduled unit on time daily.
6 Assists in operating room for breaks, lunches, and as needed
7 Communicates with reps and physicians on any specialty items needed and works closely with Materials Management to ensure timely delivery.
8 Performs other duties as assigned.
