Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technologist (Surg Tech) to join our surgical team!The Surgical Technologist will play a vital role in the operating room, providing direct assistance to surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures. This includes preparing the operating room, sterilizing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring that the necessary surgical instruments and supplies are ready. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of the Operating Room:

- Prepare and organize the operating room for surgery, ensuring all instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile and ready for use.
- Set up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and supplies according to the surgical procedure.
- Ensure proper functioning of all equipment, including monitors, surgical instruments, and lights, before the procedure begins.

Sterile Field Maintenance:
- Maintain a sterile field during surgery by following strict aseptic techniques, ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterile and free of contaminants.
- Assist in the preparation and draping of the patient in accordance with the surgical team’s requirements.
- Monitor the sterile field during surgery and notify the surgeon or scrub nurse if contamination occurs.

Assisting During Surgery:
- Provide direct assistance to the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure by passing instruments, sutures, and other items as needed.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist with positioning the patient, preparing for incisions, and ensuring the proper handling of instruments.
- Suction blood and fluids as needed, ensuring clear visibility of the surgical area.
- Assist with the placement of sterile drapes, sterile covers, and other materials as required during the surgery.

Surgical Instrument Management:
- Maintain an inventory of surgical instruments and ensure they are properly cleaned, sterilized, and organized before each procedure.
- Be familiar with the types of instruments required for various surgeries and ensure the correct instruments are available and properly handled.
- Count surgical instruments and sponges with the surgical team before and after surgery to ensure no instruments are left inside the patient.

Post-Operative Duties:
- Assist with the closure of the surgical site by providing necessary instruments and supplies, such as sutures and dressings.
- Clean and disinfect the operating room following the procedure to prepare for the next case.
- Assist in the transportation of the patient to the recovery area, ensuring the patient is stable and comfortable.

Patient Care and Safety:
- Assist in positioning patients on the operating table to ensure optimal access to the surgical site and patient safety.
- Monitor the patient’s condition and vital signs during surgery, ensuring appropriate interventions as needed.
- Adhere to infection control protocols to reduce the risk of infection or complications for patients and surgical team members.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team, anticipating the needs of the procedure and making adjustments as needed.
- Document procedures and any relevant details, such as the instruments used and patient status, as per hospital protocols.

- Ensure that surgical equipment and supplies are properly maintained, cleaned, and sterilized according to hospital standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.
- Assist in the maintenance and storage of surgical instruments, ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
