About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** NICU **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** Night Shift; 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3x12 Hour Shifts) **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 per week **Experience:** Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience **License:** Illinois state RN License in good standing **Certifications:** - Required: BLS (American Heart Association), NRP (American Heart Association) - Preferred: None **Must-Have:** - NICU experience - Patient care expertise **Job Description:** - The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients during a designated time frame, providing care through nursing processes, trends, technology, and resource management within the institution's philosophy. - Essential Functions: - Perform all unit responsibilities specific to the scope of service. - Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. - Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care to ensure information integration for the healthcare team. - Complete an initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. - Implement care plans, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. - Modify plans of care based on continuous evaluation. - Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting safety hazards and incidents. - Communicate directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. - Provide constructive feedback for the professional development of peers and confer with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. - Identify personal learning needs and take initiative to address them. - Fulfill all departmental competencies. - Department Specific Job Functions: - Monitor intake and output of neonatal patients. - Assist mothers with breastfeeding initiation and baby-friendly care. - Administer medications using proper bar code scanning. - Report on patient assignments during multi-disciplinary rounds. - Schedule Notes: Night Shift; 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
