About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Medical Surgical (Med Surg) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour nights, weekends as scheduled **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years **License:** Yes, willing to wait **Certifications:** BLS (AHA), NIHSS **Must-Have:** Experience with peritoneal dialysis preferred **Job Description:** - Work on a 52-bed unit with all private rooms - Maintain patient ratios of 1:6-7 for both day and night shifts - Use the Sunrise EMR system for charting - Charge Nurse takes a full patient assignment and has support from a Clinical Assistant - Support from 4-6 CNAs per shift with ratios of 1:10-12 - Required to work every other weekend (3 weekends out of a 6-week schedule) - Follow scrub color code of navy blue for RNs and gray for CNAs - Remote telemetry monitoring as needed; RNs not required to read strips unless experienced - Handle drips such as Heparin and PCA with MSO4; no cardiac drips or insulin - Manage intermittent Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow; no continuous ventilators - Hospitalists and intensivists available in-house 24/7, along with residents - IV Team available 24/7 for starting IVs; RNs only assess IV sites - RT and Pharmacy available 24/7 with Pyxis system - Required to float to other Med Surg or Med Surg/Oncology units as needed - Floor-specific orientation includes general hospital orientation and two full shifts on the unit - Care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including ortho and neuro post-ops, general post-ops, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, and more - Handle patients undergoing hemodialysis, and travelers with peritoneal dialysis experience are highly preferred - In cases of potential COVID-19, patients remain on this unit unless transfer to the COVID unit is necessary Note: Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract.
