About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Med Surg/Tele Ortho (Medical Surgical) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour days **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 1 year **License:** Required to Submit **Certifications:** BLS required, ACLS preferred **Must-Have:** Relevant experience in Medical Surgical and Telemetry **Job Description:** - Work on a unit with 55 beds, managing a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6. - Care for patients with common diagnoses such as joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive. - Responsible for titrating drips like heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine, and managing PCA pumps. - Charge nurses are present on each shift and may take assignments as needed. - Collaborate with nurse aides/ patient care technicians with a ratio of 1:10-20. - Interact with Tele/Monitor technicians who assist with interpreting; however, RNs should have tele awareness. - Self-scheduling is available; shifts include 0630-1900 and 1830-0700. Limited block scheduling is approved for travelers. - Work requirements include every other weekend and 2-3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year's. - May float to other medical-surgical areas or units as needed. - Professional dress code: Navy blue scrubs. - Complete two days of unit/department-specific orientation. - Engage in hourly rounding with a focus on responsiveness. - Manage multiple discharges and admissions in one day. - Successful candidates exhibit excellent attendance, teamwork, friendliness, compassion, cultural sensitivity, and prioritize patient care. - Utilize EPIC as the charting system, operating in an acute care setting. **Additional Notes:** - The unit is equipped with mechanical lifts in every other room. - Emphasis on serving patients of diverse cultures.
