About The Position
**Job Title:** Director of Nursing (DON) / RN Unit Supervisor **Job Specialty:** Skilled Nursing, Long Term Care **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** Variable Day Shift Hours; 24/7 Accountability **Guaranteed Hours:** 40 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position in long term care nursing or demonstrated experience as a leader or manager in a long term care facility **License:** Licensed as an RN in the state of practice **Certifications:** Approved CPR certification required within 90 days **Must-Have:** BSN required upon hire; Working knowledge of reimbursement systems and State and Federal Regulations within Long Term Care and TJC **Job Description:** - Coordinate and facilitate nursing care activities to improve continuity of care across the continuum. - Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures to meet Federal and State regulatory requirements. - Provide continuing education to ensure staff competency. - Offer consultative direction and expertise in nursing services. - Act as a team leader, supervising nursing staff through hiring, training, evaluation, assignment, and delegation of duties. - Act as a patient advocate and resource for patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff. - Complete, evaluate, and report monthly quality data, including falls, skin, psychotropic medications, and chart compliance. - Develop and maintain departmental objectives, standards of nursing practice, and nursing policy and procedure manuals. - Plan, coordinate, and implement new techniques, nursing objectives, and standards of care. - Organize resident care programs and provide direct resident care. - Oversee and assist in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in case management. - Foster an environment supporting each resident's rights to make choices regarding their care. - Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce department policies. - Contribute input into the budget process and maintain monthly expense records. - Guide and enforce proper infection control practices.
