About The Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Women's Services - Labor and Delivery Job Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7 PM - 7 AM, weekends as needed, floating required Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE Must-Have: 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience, mother-baby experience preferred Job Description: - This position involves working with labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) patients. - The facility follows AWHONN staffing standards with nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 labor (unless pairing cervical ripening patients), postpartum 1:3 couplets care, triage 1:3. - Required to circulate and recover patients in the operating room and provide postpartum couplet care. - Provide care for common diagnoses such as hypertension requiring magnesium sulfate, gestational diabetes, and TOLACs. - Must attend deliveries and complete the first hour of newborn care. - RNs are required to titrate drips following protocols, including Pitocin, magnesium, and occasionally insulin drips. - The unit has 14 LDRP beds and 2 OR suites for C-sections. There are 4 triage beds, typically staffed by travelers. - The facility has an OB hospitalist and a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner available 24/7, as well as in-house anesthesia. - Resource RN and triage RN will assist with breaks, attend all deliveries, and must stabilize newborns. - Shifts and scheduling allow for 7-7 rotations, with resource and charge nurses working specific shifts. Self-scheduling is not guaranteed; travelers initially fill in staffing gaps. - Floating may be required across different sites within the network, including L&D, postpartum, antepartum, or as a sitter. - Hospital-issued scrubs are required for the shift. - Orientation includes four shifts on the unit, covering labor, C-sections, and postpartum care. Completion of compliance and EPIC training is required before starting. - Facilities follow a no fingernail enhancement policy to maintain a sterile environment. - NICU services are embedded within select LDRP rooms. - Candidates must adhere to a specific radius rule regarding their permanent address.
