Job Title: Occupational Therapist - Pediatrics (Feeding Focus)
Location: Murrieta, CA (serving San Diego area)
Summary:
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is partnering with a leading hospital in the San Diego area to find a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) specializing in pediatric feeding. This is a full-time, 20-week assignment with a focus on evaluating and treating children with feeding and swallowing difficulties.

Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients' feeding and swallowing abilities, identifying areas for improvement.
- Personalized Treatment Plans: Develop individualized treatment plans that address specific feeding challenges and developmental needs, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Implement a variety of interventions, including oral motor exercises, sensory integration techniques, and behavioral strategies, to improve feeding skills and address swallowing disorders.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, speech-language pathologists, and dieticians, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Parent/Family Education: Educate and empower parents and caregivers on feeding techniques, strategies, and home programs to support their child's progress.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited program.
- OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited program if graduated before 2004.
- Licensure:
- Valid California OT License or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience required; 3 years preferred.
- Experience in assessment and treatment of pediatric patients with feeding/eating difficulties is required.
- Experience with patients ranging from 18 months and older is required (8 months and older preferred).
- Experience with swallowing disorders is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical skills in pediatric feeding and swallowing therapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with children, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of pediatric development and appropriate interventions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Additional Information:
- Schedule: 4x10 Days - 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM; Monday-Wednesday, Friday (off Thursday)
- No Call: No on-call requirements.
- Length of Assignment: 20 weeks.
- Requested Time Off: All RTO requests must be submitted upfront. No exceptions.
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required.
- Flu Vaccine: Required - no exemptions.
