The telemetry RN will provide competent and caring nursing skills while upholding the mission, vision, and values of Heywood Hospital.
Able to interpret cardiac rhythm strips and to act/react to those findings.
This position includes assessment, interpretation of physiological elements, development of nursing plan of care, patient education, communication with physicians, and more.
Provides patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures.
Respects each patient as an individual; provides care that fosters the patient's sense of dignity and positive self-regard.
Provides patient/family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning.

Provides thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions and patient responses.

Job Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
1 year med-surge experience preferred
Previous telemetry experience preferred

Schedule Information

May require rotation of shifts or adjustment of hours to meet departmental needs.

Unit Specific Information

Position requires the ability to interpret cardiac rhythm strips and to act/react to those findings including knowledge of IV drip titration as appropriate to W1/telemetry patient needs.
Responsible for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD.
Interprets and documents patient cardiac rate, rhythm and configuration and initiates appropriate treatment plan based on physician orders.
Evaluates and takes appropriate action for patients with chest pain or other cardiac related symptoms.
Assesses patient pain level upon admission and as necessary, depending upon diagnosis utilizing the numerical pain scale.
Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physicians orders, protocols, policies and procedures.
Utilizes pain management devices and other techniques to ensure proper pain relief.
Sets up, maintains and troubleshoots other equipment related to the surgical patient such as traction/orthopedic equipment/devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes and drains, etc.
