About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Pediatric Emergency Room (Peds ER) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend, first to float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years **License:** Required for submission **Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, ENA ESI Certificate, ENPC or CPEN preferred **Must-Have:** - Significant Pediatric Emergency Room experience - Experience with Cerner charting system - Traveler experience - Ability to handle similar patient volume and pace **Job Description:** - Manage a Peds ER with a separate waiting room and a fast-track room. - Handle approximately 325 patient visits per day between both ERs, with about 30,000 pediatric visits per year. - Work with a patient ratio of Peds 1:4, PICU 1:2, procedural sedation 1:1. - Triage responsibilities are assigned to travelers after completing one assignment. - No separate area for ER holds; ER RNs manage their own holds. - No separate psych/seclusion rooms; there is in-house security. - Collaborate with ED Physicians, mid-levels, and a designated pediatric doctor staff. - Charge nurse present for all ER operations. - Utilize ER techs, CNAs, and LVNs; RNs work in the fast-track area. - Engage in procedures involving RT equipment like vents, Cpap, BiPap, and High Flow. - X-ray available in ER; other radiology needs transported to the radiology department. - Phlebotomy services available; phlebotomy performed by designated staff. - Mandatory 4 weekend shifts per month, with flexibility in scheduling. - Expected to work holidays unless pre-scheduled time off coincides. - No block scheduling; flexibility required for scheduling. - Navy blue scrubs for RN; cranberry for LVN. - Unit/Department-specific orientation includes meeting with ER educator and Quality RN. - Hospital may cancel up to 3 times per contract; each cancellation could be a full shift or any part of a shift.
