About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Nursing - Critical Care and Medical-Surgical **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** Night Shift, Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays as needed for coverage **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years **License:** Current RN License **Certifications:** ACLS, PALS, and BLS **Must-Have:** Graduation from an accredited school of nursing **Job Description:** - Provide direct and indirect patient care in critical care and medical-surgical settings. - Communicate with physicians about changes in patient clinical conditions, including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology. - Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. - Perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. - Demonstrates competency in medication knowledge and correct administration based on the age and clinical condition of the patient. - Follow the five medication rights to reduce potential medication errors. - Monitor the hemodynamic status of the patient and interpret results correctly. - Conduct head-to-toe assessments on all patients, including neonate, pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations, and perform reassessments as per policy. - Document patient care appropriately and according to policy, reporting changes in the patient's condition thoroughly and timely. - Utilize policies and procedures and stay current on evidence-based practice. - Focus on patient safety by submitting incident reports and communicating with management for improved patient outcomes. - Formulate an individualized plan of care and revise it according to the patient’s response to treatment, evaluating the overall plan daily for effectiveness. - Create teaching plans based on identified learning needs, evaluating the effectiveness of learning, and including the family in teaching, as appropriate. - Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifying dysrhythmias, and treating them according to ACLS protocol. - Conduct hourly patient rounds and document them appropriately. - Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary, overseeing patient care in the ICU and assigning appropriate tasks to LPNs. - Ensure every patient on unit receives an assessment from an RN every shift. - Communicate appropriately and clearly with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians. - Consult other departments as needed to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs. - Provide care appropriate to the disease condition and age of the patient. - Charge for supplies and procedures thoroughly and timely, as instructed. - Assist physicians with procedures and demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations. - Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs. - Function as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
