About The Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Job Specialty: Emergency Room Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required for submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: Experience with Cerner EMR Job Description: - The Emergency Department has 18 beds with a fast track staffed by midlevel professionals and LVNs. - Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4, but for ICU patients, it is 1:2. - The unit uses Cerner for charting and Phillips for telemetry. - Navy blue scrubs are required. If wearing a scrub jacket, it must also be navy. Undershirts under scrub tops must be navy, white, or black. - Ventilators are available, and there is a hospitalist or intensivist in-house specifically for the Emergency Room. - There is no IV team; however, respiratory therapy and the pharmacy are available 24/7. - Shift options are 12 hours: 7a-7:30p, 9a-9:30p, 10a-10:30p, 11a-11:30p, 1p-1:30a, 3p-3:30a, and 7p-7:30a. Scheduling is self-directed but subject to manager adjustments. - Potential for floating between two facilities with a 6.5-mile distance, possibly with two hours' notice or during midshift. - Orientation includes two shifts at the primary campus and one shift at the secondary campus. - Typical patient demographics include fewer pediatric cases, correctional patients with officer presence, and a higher proportion of homeless and indigent populations. Cardiac cases are stabilized and transferred elsewhere. - Hospital anticipates treating 85 to 115 patients per day, with an average of 100. Additional Notes: This position should be the candidate's primary job. Scheduling accommodations for other jobs are not available. A strong team-oriented approach is vital. The hospital may cancel up to three full or partial shifts per contract, with a possibility of compensating hours in lieu of cancellation.
