Job Details

- IL license required to submit
- Trauma Level: Provide emergency care to our community, non-trauma. Stemi/Stroke ready. Cath lab depending on day of week/hours.
- Experience: Flexibility to rotating start times. 3+years of ER experience. Moderate sedation. First time traveler okay.
- Common drips: All critical care drips.
- ED Physician/Mid-Levels: Provider coverage based on patient load. Always one physician on staff.
- Nurse aids/EMT: Duties include EKG, draw blood (must have phleb experience), assist with wound care, transport, vitals, stock/clean room.
Job Requirements
- This contract is for 12 hour shifts for 13 weeks.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours. Nursing- 7-7, 10-10, 11-11p, 12-midnoc, 7p-7a. Techs- 7a-7p,10-10, 1p-1a, 7p-7a. Flexibility to work all shifts is key.
- Weekend Requirements: Every other or to meet the needs of the unit.
- Holiday Requirements: Rotate with core staff to meet the needs of the unit. Most likely would be working holidays. Will not be required to work all holidays if there are multiple in a contract.
Schedule Information
- # Beds: 24 in ED.
- Do you have a Fast Track: No separate fast track area. Intermixed in the department.
- Do you have a separate Triage area: Triage area in the department. Typically will not have travelers in triage. Use ESI rating system.
- Do you have a separate holding area in the ER: Intermixed with the ER patients. ER nurses care for these patients.
- Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms: 4 behavioral health safe rooms for those patients. Part of the 24 beds. ER nurses care for those patients as well.
- Is Security in-house 24/7: In house 24/7.
- On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day: 60-80 per 24 hours.
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 They will adjust ratios to staffing situation and acuity.
- Required Certifications: ED requires BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNS or TNCC, NIHSS.
- Common diagnoses: Respiratory viruses, anything from a stubbed toe- MI- MVA, homeless. Neonates to geriatrics. Moderate sedation experience. Lumbar puncture. Depending on weather, they may have to manage patients longer than other times. This is a community hospital, so they see what ever comes through the door.
- Is RT in the ER 24/7: RT assigned. Would be called to the department if assistance is needed.
- RT Equipment: All RT equipment.
- Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER: Staff monitors ED patients in the ED. Tele tech does not monitor. RNs required to read and interpret.
- X-Ray or CT in the ER: Imaging connected to ER through double doors.
- Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw?: Techs/nurses handle blood draws.
- Floating Requirements: Potentially to float to MS. Tele. ICU. Typically helping hands, if experienced in other areas, could take on full patient load.
- Scrub Color: Solid colors of professional scrubs.
- Department specific orientation: 2 12 hour shifts of orientation. Also meet with HR to get badge, etc.
Unit Specific Information
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: House supervisor 24/7. Charge nurse on day shift- sometimes takes patients, jumps in to help where needed, triage, lunches, etc.
- All travelers with previous employment at any FHN Memorial location must disclose it on their submission for a DNU check.
