We support HCA Virginia facilities to provide timely diagnostic information for patient care. This is a beautiful state of the art laboratory. We handle all specialized clinical microbiology. We handle histology testing with new testing equipment and technology in a fast paced environment.Integrated Regional Labs is a full service provider for clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology services, providing hospitals, physicians, and clients with timely diagnostic information for patient care. Our infrastructure includes a fully automated esoteric core laboratory in Fort Lauderdale, a histology and microbiology operation in Largo, Florida, and a network of hospital based rapid-response laboratories present in four HCA Healthcare divisions within the state of Florida. Our core laboratories support more than 250 acute and rehab hospitals, physician practices, surgery centers and commercial accounts.Job SummaryPerform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, case organization in accordance with department procedures.Assure positive sample, block and slide identificationPrepare and maintains reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.Utilize independent judgement and problem solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance. Troubleshoots to and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.Job QualificationsA 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical TechnologyMore than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years of experience in a high volume histology setting is requiredMUST BE A CERTIFIED TECHNOLOGIST FOR THIS ROLEDescription for Job Histology Technician in the pathology department is an assistant to the Pathologists and is responsible for prompt and accurate accessioning, cutting, embedding, coverslipping and staining of surgical specimens. The position is also responsible for special stains, frozen sections, cell blocks, decalcification, and filing slides, all required computer entries, reports, and records are done and discrepancies are brought to the attention of the Laboratory Pathologists.
