Preference would be CLS Location - Vail Length - 13 weeks Shifts - Nights (8p-6a) Schedule - 4x 10 Ideal Start - 1/4/2025 POSITION PURPOSE: Two to three sentences describing the overall purpose of the position. The Medical Laboratory Technician collects and processes (per CLIA) moderate- and high-complexity laboratory tests and analyses; recognizes problems; maintains instruments; and provides Physicians with rapid and accurate test results. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maximum of ten functions in order of percentage of time spent on functions from longest to shortest; do not list anything that does not represent at least 10% of the job s time. Please include supervisory responsibilities. 1. Performs general tests in all laboratory areas including blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology under the supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. 2. Performs and records preventative maintenance on lab instrumentation and identifies problems with lab equipment. 3. Validates laboratory test data, enters date into LIS system, and reviews it for completeness and accuracy. 4. Report data to Physicians, Infection Control, and regulatory agencies as required. 5. Performs quality control, calibrations, and validations on test assays. 6. Performs specimen collection, handling, processing, and storage per regulations. 7. Evaluates specimen s quality for testing and troubleshoots deviations. 8. Participates in QA and QI projects and collects data. 9. Assists with training and education of lab assistants and waived testing personnel. 10. Maintains competency and education in general lab practices. 11. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred Experience: One year of experience as a MLT or Lab Assistant in a high complexity lab preferred. License(s): N/A Certification(s): Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required. Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Performs, statistically evaluates, troubleshoots, and records quality control, calibrations, validations on test assays. Performs and records preventive maintenance on lab instrumentation. Identifies, evaluates, and performs corrective maintenance on lab equipment. Validates, correlates with patients' diagnosis, interprets, & reports laboratory test data; enters data into LIS system and reviews it's completeness and accuracy. Reports and interprets data to physicians, infection control, regulatory agencies, as required. Performs specimen collection, handling, processing, storage. Evaluates specimens quality for testing and troubleshoots deviations. Assists in the development of QA and QI projects; collects and tabulates QA data. Assists with training and education of new med techs and lab assistants. Maintains competency and continuing education in general lab practices.
