Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Mammography Technologist (Mammogram Tech) to join our team. The Mammogram Tech will be responsible for performing high-quality mammographic imaging for breast cancer screening and diagnostic purposes. This role involves working closely with patients, ensuring their comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of image quality and safety. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, and be dedicated to providing top-notch patient care.
- Perform Mammograms: Operate mammography equipment to capture detailed images of the breast tissue, adhering to proper positioning techniques and radiation safety protocols.
- Patient Interaction: Prepare patients for mammography exams by explaining the procedure, answering questions, and making them feel at ease. Ensure patients understand the importance of breast screening and provide support during the process.
- Image Quality: Review mammogram images for clarity and quality. Adjust techniques as necessary to obtain optimal images, ensuring accurate representation of breast tissue.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including medical history, procedure details, and any significant findings. Ensure timely transmission of images to the radiologist for interpretation.
- Safety Protocols: Follow strict safety procedures to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff. Use shielding as needed and ensure all safety equipment is in place and functioning.
- Patient Comfort and Support: Assist patients in positioning during mammogram exams and ensure comfort throughout the procedure. Address any patient concerns and provide reassurance when necessary.
- Collaboration with Radiologists: Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure that mammogram images are appropriate for diagnostic purposes. Participate in follow-up care and additional imaging procedures when required.
- Maintenance and Equipment Checks: Perform routine maintenance on mammography equipment to ensure it is functioning properly. Report any issues with equipment to the appropriate department or supervisor for resolution.
- Continual Learning: Stay up to date on the latest mammography technologies, screening techniques, and safety guidelines through ongoing education and training.
- Compliance: Ensure all mammography exams comply with regulatory standards, including those set by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as state and local regulations.
