Position Summary/Objective
The Transportation Technician is responsible for the transport of products to our internal and external customers. The ideal candidate must have a valid drivers license, be a team player and be able to operate a vehicle safely. The responsibilities of this role include loading and unloading delivery vehicle as well as effectively communicating with customers. This role will also assist with fulfilling outbound orders as well as post-harvest duties as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload delivery vehicles
- Confirming contents to be loaded/unloaded based on sales orders and manifests
- Safely deliver products to retail and wholesale customers
- Adhere to all vehicle and traffic safety laws and policies
- Interface with retail and wholesale customers during delivery - represent our organization to our customers in a professional and courteous way
- Effectively utilize the state-mandated point-of-sale system
- Fully complete all required documentation
- Immediately report any inventory discrepancies to the Inventory Manager for further action
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits
- Maintain compliance with all Company policies, regulations, standards, values, and procedures
- Prevent diversion of products by securing vehicles during transport activities
- Participate in staff training and maintain product and industry knowledge
- Assist with and receive deliveries of inbound raw materials
- Respond to vehicle maintenance issues by timely reporting of issues
- Follow directives of the Transportation Lead, Inventory Lead and/or Inventory Manager
- Other duties as assigned
- Reports directly to the Inventory Manager
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's License
Education:
- Minimum of a high school degree required
- Combination of education and work experience will be considered
Work Experience
- Data entry experience preferred
- Experience in warehouse inventory control or related area helpful
- Work history that demonstrates stability, progressive responsibility, and willingness to accept new duties
Capabilities and Skills:
- Strong safety mindset
- Cannabis experience and knowledge preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of computer and office equipment and programs; proficiency in computer usage including seed-to-sale software, MS Office applications (MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook), and more
- Ability to focus with a high-level attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, including anticipatory thinking and the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm composure
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with absolute reliability and honesty, high level of integrity, and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Willingness to be cross trained
- Exceptional team player with strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably and effectively within a diverse, multicultural, multi-generational environment
Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds for a distance of 50 feet
- Ability to spend extended time sitting, walking, bending, and reaching
- Must pass stringent State background test requirements
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, and therefore, will be eligible to receive overtime pay based on federal and state requirements. While there is no promise of overtime, it may be required either on a regular or periodic basis due to business necessity. Eligibility to work overtime will be determined in accordance with local site practice.
