Position Summary:
Potawatomi Training, LLC (a federal government contractor) is seeking a qualified Transportation Team Lead whois responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation and continuing operation of transportation services under contract and programs that support transportation services directly provided by the Center for Domestic Preparedness.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Oversees daily operations of personnel in the Transportation section to include ensuring compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations
• Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of all student transportation needs
• Responds to all emergency issues regarding vehicles and personnel after hours
• Plan, organize and manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements
• Creates driver schedules in 60 day increments, to ensure consistency with organizational requirements
• Collaborate with other managers and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
• Reviews, creates, implements standard operation procedures (SOP) in accordance with mission requirements
• Maintains various spreadsheets to include but not limited to vehicle maintenance records, vehicle key inventory, vehicle credit cards, and individual driver hours
• Projects and plans charter bus requirements as needed and provides monthly roll-up for costing purposes
• Conduct preliminary investigation of department traffic accidents, initiated reports, maintain records, and forward reports to responsible agencies
• Coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance, and fuel and mileage reports for assigned vehicles
• Monitor operations to ensure that subordinate members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, and government regulations
• Plan, organize, prioritize, assign, and evaluate work of subordinates
• Maintain accurate records/documentation of training, licensing, testing, physicals and driving records
• Conducts annual evaluation of Transportation staff to ensure continued professional growth and provides supportive documentation of evaluation decisions
• Counsels assigned employees periodically as needed and provide written documentation of the issues and recommended action to the personnel file
• Approves and verifies assigned employee timecards and vacation time
• Provides continued professional growth by conducting training sessions relative to driver/safety issues
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
• High school graduate or GED equivalent required. Degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Business preferred
• At least three (3) years related work experience.
• Familiar with all transportation modes and understanding of Government training and transportation operations
• Good oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, contractors and other employees
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Active listening skills
• Ability to maintain a stable performance under pressure or opposition, handling stress in a manner acceptable to others and the organization
• Possess good analytical and problem solving skills to manipulate data and interpret into meaningful operational performance trends
• Time management skills and ability to prioritize
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Access) to prepare multiple Contractual and Government reports
• Experience with transportation management/dispatching and optimization tools
• Must be computer literate and able to enter information into spreadsheets, database, and/or systems, as needed
• Possess a valid Alabama State Operator License and a valid Alabama CDL, Class B with passenger endorsement with airbrake
