Job Description Overview:
The Transportation Sales Executive is responsible for the leadership and development of sales and marketing activity. The Sales Executive will drive revenue growth to meet company sales and marketing objectives. Duties include proactively identifying sales targets, pursuing potential leads, documenting all activities prospecting, and networking with clients to achieve established goals. The Sales Executive must have a sound business understanding to be able to develop action plans, effectively use operating budgets, identify/analyze business trends specific to opportunities and challenges in the marketplace, and make decisions that will support the overall sales and profit objectives. The Sales Executive plays a key role in the development, implementation, and execution of sales strategies through close-knit collaboration with the corporate executive team.
This position is responsible for developing business relationships with new prospects and active customers. This individual will also be responsible for cultivating dedicated leads through prospecting methods, including cold calling, discovery, and leveraging marketing campaigns. This individual will also be responsible for cultivating relationships with active customers based on thought leadership and creating strategic partnerships. Analyze client supply chain, the market, and our service offerings to best act as a valuable supply chain consultant.
Sales Leadership:
- Analysis, insight, and direction of new business opportunities to ensure optimal operational alignment, maximum efficiencies, and sustainable results.
- Ensures achievement of sales forecast and profit margins.
- Develops strategic objectives with a solid growth plan and formula for meeting and exceeding sales goals.
- Fosters a winning culture exemplified by a positive attitude, dedicated work ethic, and team collaboration.
Market Leadership:
- Builds a network of customer and industry contacts critical to company growth and success.
- Establishes relationships with key accounts and assesses current/future opportunities.
- Exhibits strong operational knowledge of dedicated logistics and competitive trends within the transportation industry.
- Weekly huddle with the executive team to measure and monitor objectives and sales quotas.
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Negotiate fair market prices at acceptable profit levels through collaboration with customers and internal pricing analysts.
- Effectively onboard new customers through a thorough explanation of services, pricing, expectations, and support mechanisms.
- Communicate potential gaps in operational resources with the end goal of improving, meeting, and exceeding expectations.
- As a Sales Executive, you will be responsible for driving sales growth within our Transportation division.
- You will work closely with potential clients to understand their supply chain needs and offer tailored logistics solutions that optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Determine and effectively communicate customer requirements to operational support at the time of onboarding including equipment needs, and hours of operation.
- Conduct outbound sales visits, calls, and emails to engage with prospects, understand their business needs, and present our services as a solution.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, understanding their unique requirements and tailoring solutions to meet their needs.
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive customer acquisition and revenue growth, including pricing, promotions, and discounts.
- Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations to potential customers, highlighting the benefits and value of our services.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and stay ahead of the competition.
- Regularly achieve and exceed individual sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, customer service, and logistics, to ensure smooth onboarding and customer satisfaction.
- Effectively onboard new customers through a thorough explanation of services, pricing, expectations, and support mechanisms.
- Learn the intricacies of our business model to better understand what drives service, cost, and value.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Transportation, or equivalent with a minimum of 8+ years of sales experience in the transportation industry, operational knowledge of dedicated third-party logistics is preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills/Qualifications: Computer literate, PC and mainframe. MS Windows. Background in Pipedrive preferred. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations as needed. Ability to travel (overnight) up to 65% with some weekend attendance required.
