About the role, Your Impact
Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a transportation engineer, in our Houston, TX office. This position will primarily consist of design engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. A knowledge of designing roadway, drainage and underground improvements with Geopak is preferred. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.
What your day-to-day will look like
- Design and/or provide guidance on Traffic Control, Intersection, Roadway, Drainage, and Infrastructure improvements using Geopak.
- Conduct and/or provide guidance on drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
- Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
- Complete engineering plans and specifications using TXDOT Standards.
- Process Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
- Assist project engineers and managers by making significant decisions on a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery.
- Mentor staff and assist with training opportunities.
- Assist Marketing in preparation of Proposals: project plan and approach, staff assignments, fee development and risk assessment.
- Develop design and quality control standards.
- Assist with business development and client management opportunities.
Education/License Requirement
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
- P.E. license required.
Must-haves, what you will bring
- At least 8 years of relevant job experience working on municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
- Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
- Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.
- Experience with Word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Work within a team-first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microstation experience is desirable, but not required.
Compensation: The pay range for this role is $97,000 - $125,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
