Primary Function:
Under general supervision, performs assignments of limited scope which require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks. Assignments involve some unusual or difficult problems requiring job knowledge and abilities beyond entry level.
Primary Duties:
Ardurra is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our transportation team in the role of Engineer Intern (EI). In this role you will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of outstanding seasoned professionals on exciting and challenging projects that improve the quality of life in our communities. Your primary duties may include:
- Assist Project Engineers in the design and development of roadway and highway construction contract plans using the latest CADD software, including MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
- Assist in the identification of construction pay items and computation of quantities and opinions of costs.
- Assist in the preparation of construction specifications and specification packages.
- Develop and analyze feasible design alternatives comparing parameters, such as typical sections, horizontal and vertical alignments, right-of-way requirements, impacts on existing utilities, constructability, and construction cost.
- Perform standard computations and analysis and research assignments.
- Attend design meetings and coordinate with team members.
- Prepare letters, memorandums, reports, spreadsheets, power point presentations, and project schedules.
- Document design decisions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Engineer Intern Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months from date of hire.
- 0-2 years of experience.
- Some experience with CADD software is preferred.
