As a member of this team, you will contribute to CDM Smith’s mission by:
• Providing technical services for the design of hydraulic systems on transportation projects including urban and rural highways and roads.
• Contributing to CDM Smith’s mission by helping to grow the department by participating in marketing demonstrations and project pursuits.
• Working under the direction of a Project Manager leading task teams designing roadway hydraulic elements of roadway design projects.
• Acting independently on technical designs.
• Acting as a mentor for junior-level employees.
• Directing the work of engineers and technicians.
• Working in a multi-disciplinary environment, closely coordinating with team members.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire, promotion, or transfer).
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
• EIT, PE preferred.
• Experience with roadway hydraulic design including swales, small pipe culverts, storm drainage systems, outfall analysis, and drainage inspection.
• Experience with the design and permitting of stormwater systems for roadways including rural, urban, and limited-access highways.
• Experience in Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, StormCAD, HydroCAD & HY8.
• The candidate should have experience in task management, leading others, and delivering roadway/highway design projects from initiation through final design.
• The candidate should be able to present in front of a large group including clients and project stakeholders.
• The candidate should have strong communication and technical writing skills.
