Job Description:
Under direct supervision, develops large scale projects such as highways, tunnels, mass transit and aviation engineering designs of basic to moderate complexity to meet client project requirements. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary. Inspects new construction and existing transportation structures as necessary. Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Performs other duties as required. May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. 1 year of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate must have a strong background with MassDOT, CTDOT and/or Municipal roadway/highway design projects
The candidate must have experience in task management and delivering roadway and traffic signal design projects from initiation through final design
The candidate should have a working knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads
The candidate should be able to present in front of a large group
The candidate should have strong communication and technical writing skills
Experience completing Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis of drainage systems and design of stormwater management a plus.

Skills and Abilities:
Intermediate Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Good written and verbal communications skills. Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).
