Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Transportation Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will have mid-senior level experience in transportation management and a proven track record of successfully leading and overseeing transportation operations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all transportation operations, including fleet management, routing, scheduling, and driver management
- Develop and implement transportation policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficiency and compliance with (DOT) regulations
- Monitor and analyze transportation performance metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize transportation processes and drive continuous improvement
- Lead and mentor a team of transportation professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and employee development
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and other transportation partners to ensure seamless and reliable transportation services
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in transportation operations
- Prepare and present regular reports and updates on transportation performance, initiatives, and projects to senior leadership
- Drive vehicles from the community area to scheduled designations
- Assists disabled passengers into and out of vehicles
- Secures passenger wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during a trip.
- Operates hands-free devices to communicate with the transportation department
- Cleans and services vehicles with fuel, lubricants, and accessories
- Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Current Commercial Class B Driver's License (CDL) is required
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance, and safety standards
- Proven ability to develop and implement transportation strategies, policies, and procedures
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in transportation management software and tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
