JMT's Trenton Construction Management team is seeking an Inspector II to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
- Performs routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials
- Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
- Gathers and maintains record documents
- Makes field notes and computations

- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Strong computer proficiency
- Active driver's license
- Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
Required Experience
- NICET II
- Associate’s or Bachelor or Construction Technology or Construction Management degree
- 2 -5 years of construction inspection experience
- Client requested certifications (NJSAT, ACI, TCC, OSHA)
- Knowledge and experience in construction techniques, reading plans, procedures, methods, equipment and materials
- Experience in construction management/inspection situations
Preferred Experience
- Experience with NJTA, NJDOT and local clients
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil Engineering
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
