This is the first level of a two-level series. It is distinguished from the higher level by the absence of responsibility for the transportation of patients. This position is responsible for transporting medical equipment, mail, labs, blood products, and supplies to and from various locations within the OHSU environment. This transporting work is completed using the TeleTracking transportation software and the current technology used to obtain transportation jobs.
Function/Duties of Position:- Transports medical equipment, mail, labs, blood products, and supplies to and from various locations within the OHSU environment. These locations are, but not limited to: nursing units, diagnostic areas, clinics, exam rooms, operating rooms, laboratories, morgue, or offices.
- Operates elevators for patient and equipment movement. Relieves elevator attendants for breaks.
- Cleans and disinfects transportation medical equipment: stretchers, wheelchairs, morgue carts, HoverMatts, pillows, and utility transport carts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma GED.
- Excellent communication with public and staff.
- Strong customer service experience.
- Must have a positive and pleasant attitude.
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks to maximize efficiency and patient experience.
- Ability to multitask and function in stressful situations.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Acquire proper training with bio hazardous items within 90 days of hire.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
- Healthcare or hospital experience.
- Experience in safe transporting of specimens, blood products, equipment, and supplies.
Pay Range: $16.41 - $21.87 per hour
- Risk of exposure to infectious disease, blood, bodily fluids and/or tissue as well as other unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries, and illness.
- Risk of exposure to and be required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations.
- Risk of exposure to frustrated or violent patients.
- PPE when necessary: gloves, mask, and gown.
- Work holidays.
- Position is considered an essential role in hospital operations and providing/supporting patient care.
- Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to safely lift and transfer equipment and supplies.
