Job Title: Manager, Transmission Operations
Job Location: Houston, Texas; This position reports to TRC Solutions’ office in Houston, TX. Applicants may work from a Home Office within a commutable distance to Houston, TX.
Job Type: Full Time
Duties: Responsible for the profitability of a particular regional Transmission office, key project staff assignments and initiatives, and managing staff utilizations. Works with other Transmission Engineering supervisors and managers for resource management optimization. Ensures timely preparation and review of proposals, schedules, and budget estimates related to client activities. Ensures project teams meet or exceed client expectations, ensuring the highest quality product and most efficient use of resources. Ensures proper administration of departmental and personnel policies, salary administration, training, employee development, and employee performance evaluations. Leads recruiting activities, including candidate identification, interviewing, and hiring. Participates in strategic planning, marketing services, and resource planning for targeted clients and leads local sales efforts to attract and expand current business. Ensures regular touchpoints with clients are performed and client concerns are proactively addressed. Interfaces with the subject matter expert (SME) team and ensures quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes and procedures are implemented. Ensures all aspects of the company's safety processes and procedures are properly implemented. Works closely with supervisors to understand technical gaps within the team and provides training opportunities to fill those gaps. Leads, develops, and fosters an innovative and collaborative work environment within the company's Transmission Engineering practice. Acts as a SME by applying knowledge of industry standards and civil and electrical engineering design principles specific to Overhead and Underground utility transmission systems. Develops a thorough understanding of regional client standards, procedures, requirements, and staffing needs to properly leverage internal resources.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 3 years of experience leveraging industry standards and civil and electrical engineering design principles specific to overhead and underground utility transmission systems.
OR, in the alternative:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 5 years of experience leveraging industry standards and civil and electrical engineering design principles specific to overhead and underground utility transmission systems.
Must possess the following skills:
1) Demonstrated expertise (DE) designing and analyzing transmission structures leveraging PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, or PLS-CADD software for multiple loading requirements depending on geographic region;
2) DE developing analytical tools or methods to perform routine structure design checks leveraging Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, VBA macros, and Microsoft Access databases;
3) DE preparing engineering proposals and bid reviews, providing construction support, and engaging in client interactions;
4) DE developing training for new graduate engineers related to PLS-POLE modeling, PLS-TOWER modeling, and foundation design for transmission structures; and,
5) DE developing and implementing Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) processes for electrical transmission line design elements leveraging PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, Microsoft Excel, MFAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft PowerPoint to ensure the delivery of quality products.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
