Position Summary:
The Journeyman Lineman (transmission) is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance & repair of overhead electrical transmission systems. This position works in various locations/requires travel to other states depending on customer needs.

Minimum Requirements & Expectations (but not limited to):
- Work safely on new construction, maintenance, or repair work on energized/de-energized transmission systems.
- Able to install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches & switchgear.
- Able to replace fuses in transformers & clearing the faulted circuits/systems.
- Can complete the installation & hookup of a single-phase transformer.
- Capable of leading a crew in assembly & erection of structures.
- Can perform basic bucket rescue.
- Stringing overhead wire
- Setting poles & anchors
- Ability to work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill & care.
- Troubleshooting problems on transmission systems.
- Proficient in all aspects of transmission linework.
- Able to properly sag wire.
- Understands how to properly phase out a line using phasing sticks & understands proper use of phasing sticks.
- Can Identify transmission primary & secondary voltage on a circuit.
- Can safely install & remove mechanical jumpers.
- Able to obtain knowledge of hot stick work on energized lines.
- Understands:
- Dead ending & sagging operations for all conductors.
- Grounding procedures
- Minimum approach distances
- Excavation & shoring requirements
- When to use Kellum grips
- Flag & tag procedures
- How to obtain a one shot on a recloser
- Various types of materials used in linework
- Fully capable of executing hot line work on conductor systems.
- Can identify & locate puller & tensioner setups.
- Able to obtain knowledge in bare hand work- 44Kv & 500Kv.
- Must be familiar with induced voltage.
- Must be able to, & familiar with, climbing various structures (wood, steel, etc.) and have the tools to do so.
- Proficient at operation of digger derrick.
- Proficient in all aspects of heavy lifting & rigging.
- Completes all required safety training & know/understand DOT and OSHA standard.
- Maintains company vehicles/equipment/tools in good working order.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced & at times stressful environment.
- Does all other related work as required to complete the job in its’ entirety.
General Expectations & Other Requirements:
- 5-years minimum recent field experience.
- Able to obtain an CDL within 90 days of employment (preferred already obtained).
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work overtime frequently & travel long distances.
- Able to read/write & communicate effectively.
- Must have acceptable MVR/background.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen & adhere to Company drug policy throughout employment.
- Capable of taking & following directions.
- Capable of conducting a pre-job or tailgate briefing effectively.
- Work as a team member
- Meet E-Verification requirements.
Required Physical Skills:
- Able to perform rigorous physical labor for a continuous period.
- Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
- Comfortable & capable of working at heights &/or confined spaces.
- Comfortable & capable of working from an arial device.
- Capable of properly installing, inspecting & removing PPE.
- Ability to wear PPE & understands when to wear it.
- Able to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands & sense of balance.
- Ability to sustain awkward positions/postures.
