Job Summary and Qualifications
The primary responsibilities of the Transition Manager are to project manage by leading all aspects of the transition process for Providers and Staff becoming affiliated with HCA PHYSICIAN SERVICES and for those Providers terminating affiliation with HCA PHYSICIAN SERVICES. Candidates must be in the Houston market.
The Transition Manager oversees all tasks of projects including large, very complex, high profile, multi-million dollar Acquisitions, New Provider Clinic Start Up projects and divesting Providers and clinics. Position includes Practice Management Consulting with emphasis on Medical Practices opening or in transition which are important to the HCA Hospital Division market. This job requires processing complex information from a variety of sources to provide medical practice assessments, evaluation of practice financial data and practice culture recommending plans of action.
The Transition Manager must establish and maintain relationships with HCA Executive Staff, Division and Group HCA PHYSICIAN SERVICES Leadership, Development, Recruitment, Physicians, Physician Extenders, Legal Counsel, HCA Corporate Departments, Hospital Executive Management, Physician Practice Management and Regional Service Center Departments.
Transition Managers are responsible for a large geographic area consisting of their assigned Division and may be asked to travel to support other HCA PHYSICIAN SERVICES Divisions. Transition Managers are expected to project manage several projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages the 300+ task list transition process to include Service Center Departments and Operations by taking ownership of the project agenda and overall communication of the project while holding associated departments accountable for their assigned responsibilities during the transition.
- Transition Manager sets project related deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors and tracks status of all start up or termination steps and summarizes progress of the project for HCA Hospital and PHYSICIAN SERVICES Leadership.
- Relies on extensive experience to plan and accomplish goals by working closely with Division Operations Senior Management and Regional Service Center Department leaders to complete the project transition process.
- Must be familiar with Healthcare concepts, practices and procedures as it relates to Providers and Healthcare Clinics.
- The Transition Manager has budgetary responsibility to effectively and efficiently on-board practices and Physicians. Applicant must be prepared to negotiate diplomatically and effectively in various business environments to manage expectations related to the projects.
- Candidate must evaluate data and recommend action plans translating “Vision into Action” using verbal and written project updates for the Division Operations Leadership team.
- Operate as a Medical Practice Consultant for up to a year working with Independent Client Physicians to develop budget, review financial performance, key practice indicators making operational recommendations and implement change.
- Submits Monthly Expense Reimbursement Reports to the Income Guarantee Administration for reimbursement for the Independent Physician Client.
- Maintain attention to detail in documenting the entire project transition process using the PracticeGreenLight software system.
- Participates in the designing and revising of operating procedures of online forms and software for various Service Center Department to improve efficiency and functionality for the Clinic Operations.
- Transition Managers communicates regularly with HCA PHYSICIAN SERVICES Operation’s Management, Division and Hospital Leadership, to resolve obstacles with timeline for project transitioning requiring coordination and resolution.
- Interacts with all Service Center Departments including but not limited to Information Services, Security, Provider Enrollment, Human Resources, Accounting, Accounts Payable, System Training, Billing, Collection Team(s), Purchasing and Treasury on a regular basis to resolve outstanding items necessary for a smooth transition with transition timeline.
- Serves as a liaison between the Practices, Physicians and the Service Center Departments.
- Assumes the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the on-boarding/off-boarding activities of their respective Divisions.
- May assist in the recruitment and selection of competent managers, consultants and other personnel.
- Leader representing PHYSICIAN SERVICES by creating a positive and calm atmosphere for Providers and staff associated with the related project during the transition. Transition Manager will be required to assess the existing culture of the acquired practices and give recommendations to Division Senior Leadership when requested.This position requires a professional communication style to communicate with both parties.
- Transition Manager reviews and is knowledgeable regarding local, state and national regulations, and is able to make recommendations to assure continued compliance with current regulations.
- Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.
- Uses vast knowledge, experience and leadership to bring attention to any potential Ethics and Compliance issues particularly related to the acquisition process.
- Complete special projects for Group Vice Presidents such as COID consolidations, Clinic Inspections and participate with Urgent Care Line of Business project transitions.
EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in Health or Business Administration or equivalent work experience in a related field. A certification in Project Management is a plus.
EXPERIENCE – Must have five or more years of medical practice management experience. Additional experience in project management and practice management consulting is preferred. Effective working knowledge of Healthcare financial management, specifically medical practice accounting, third party reimbursement issues, patient flow and facilities management.
