Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: (1) managing a transfer pricing engagement from scoping to deliverable; (2) demonstrating appropriate technical competency in transfer pricing concepts including economics, finance, and international taxation, (3) leading and developing a team of professionals to successfully provide high quality and timely deliverables
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) Manage transfer pricing engagements: manage all aspects of a transfer pricing project, including proposals and engagement letters, the fact and data gathering process, the formulation of economic analyses and solutions, the development of financial analyses and models, the preparation of written technical summaries and reports; communicate in a timely manner tasks, progress, issues, and solutions to Partners, team members, and other relevant Crowe personnel; and manage client expectations to deliver an exceptional client experience.
(2) Demonstrate strong technical competency: present technical competency reflecting transfer pricing consulting experience of at least five years in issues related to the economics of transfers of tangible goods, services, intangible goods, cost sharing, IP migrations, dispute resolution (such as transfer pricing examination and/or advanced pricing agreements); present strong financial analysis and financial modeling capabilities; present leadership in client discussions to gather facts and ascertain the technical merits and economic drivers of a transaction; present understanding and ability to learn international tax and industrial organization concepts; and present clear, concise, and high quality technical writing, client correspondence, and other written communications.
(3) Lead and develop a team of professionals: build a team of peers and junior professional that will provide high quality and thoughtful work that is delivered on a timely basis; articulate the balance of patience and urgency in preparing analytics; encourage innovation; encourage a balance between work-life and personal-life; engage teammates to proactively manage their careers while simultaneously coaching and supporting teammates in those endeavors; and communicate developmental ideas and best practices to senior team members.
(4) Develop business relationships: generate business and goodwill for the transfer pricing practice by proactively engaging within the Crowe community and the local community; engage colleagues in Crowe’s Tax, Audit, Performance, Risk, and Financial Advisory Services to develop relationships and an understanding of other Crowe service offerings; work with Crowe’s network of foreign affiliates to develop business referral relationships; provide excellent client experiences and seek ways to provide existing clients with new and unique solutions to help in other areas of their business; and perform business development exercises internally and externally, including technical presentations, meet-and-greets, and other social networking and speaking events.
Qualifications:
- A PhD degree (in Economics), an MBA with a concentration in Economics or Finance, a Master’s degree (in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Quantitative Analysis, or International Business), or a Bachelor’s degree (in Economics or Finance) and either a CFA designation or an American Society of Appraiser’s (ASA) Business Valuation Certification
- At least 5+ years of experience working full time on in a professional role within a transfer pricing group (consulting experience preferred but consider in-house experience)
- International Tax experience on a consultative level preferred
- The ability and desire to work in a team environment recognizing that there will be periods of extended and weekend hours to meet deadlines and deliverables
- Excellent skills in the following areas:
• Staff management, including strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to explain, teach, and encourage teammates to perform to the best of their abilities
• Project management, including strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and attention to details
