Job DescriptionAHRC NYC is looking to hire a Training Skill Instructor to implement their Janitorial Curriculum throughout New York City. The salary for this position is $45k. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the Senior Training Skills Instructor in implementing the program’s Janitorial Curriculum in a contextual manner throughout Basic Skills Training.
- Assists the people we support with individualized person-centered teaching plans.
- Provides instruction in performance of various tasks that improve object manipulation, cognitive skills, socialization skills, personal hygiene skills, independent living skills, and employment skills while addressing deficits in self-direction.
- Under direction, supervises activities designed to facilitate the intellectual, sensory-motor and affective development of students and incorporates development of these skills as necessary for employment in the community.
- Prepares daily lesson plans, in advance and on an individual basis geared towards each student’s person-centered program plans. Carries through on these program plans.
- Maintains appropriate attendance and other required records.
- In case of absence of Senior Training Skills Instructor, assumes responsibility for assigned students.
- Teaches students occupational skills at internship sites, which prepare them for careers in the janitorial and cleaning field.
- To utilize the cleaning curriculum approved by OPWDD, instruct students on how to complete assigned tasks, and teach the Janitorial Curriculum in-class and at internship sites.
- To advocate appropriately for students when the need arises (e.g. progress report, meetings,)
- To supervise the students on the internship sites and ensure compliance with site rules and requirements.
- To maintain appropriate training-related and other required records.
- To maintain a good working relationship with the training sites.
Qualifications
- A combination of 2 years related education and experience in the janitorial/cleaning field.
- Teaching/Instruction experience highly preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English speaker preferred.
- Valid NYS driver’s license preferred.
