Job Description Summary:
The Center for Excellence in Public Leadership (CEPL) at the George Washington University brings 25 years of experience in cutting-edge leadership and management training in the public sector. Working with federal managers, CEPL offers a standardized program that prepares leaders to step into senior executive positions, as well as customized programs to help address specific training needs for a variety of mid-level and executive level positions.
.We seek a motivated an experienced program coordinator for a temporary, yet mission critical role. The Training Program Coordinator will report to and support GW CEPL’s Director to deliver several leadership development experiences for the District of Columbia Government throughout the year. This position is specifically focusing on the DC Executive Leaders Program Cohort 10 (DC ELP10) (in partnership with DC Human Resources) and the DC Department of Parks and Recreations’ Youth Development Professional Certificate Program.
The Training Program Coordinator will help plan and deliver monthly modules for DC ELP 10 and the DPR Youth Development Certificate Program. Delivery includes logistics management: ordering, delivering, printing and email correspondence. The position requires an individual who demonstrates professionalism and represents the Center in a positive and effective manner, takes initiative, is a good problem solver, and meets deadlines. Possible opportunities to attend leadership conferences.
The Training Program Coordinator will provide overall office and program support.
Specific Duties Include:
- Coordinate assigned training programs in collaboration with trainers to ensure the successful delivery of effective sessions. Manage logistics, including reserving rooms, printing program materials, ordering office supplies and equipment, catering orders, transporting and lifting training materials from and to the training locations.
- Adherence to budgetary constraints while tracking expenses.
- Collect and summarize participant feedback and program evaluations.
- Assist with the organization’s learning management system (LMS), including uploading training materials and minor technical troubleshooting.
- Communicate with participants about assignments, schedule changes, and other information.
- Maintain paper and electronic files.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
This is a hybrid position with some days remote and some days in the office at the GW Arlington Education Center on 950 N. Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22203 or the training sites in Washington, DC. This position requires travel across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia metro area for training locations.

Additional in-person dates at training sites to be determined. This temporary position is expected to go through June 30, 2025. There may be the possibility of extension.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; high efficiency
- Ability to interact professionally with clients, participants and stakeholders
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher etc.
- Previous event/program planning experience preferred
- High degree of professional comportment, punctuality, reliability.
- Comfortable lifting 20 pounds is preferred.
