POSITION TITLE: Coordinator – Training and Professional Development Services
SALARY: $45K - $65K/yr STATUS: Non-Exempt, FT GRADE: 4

SUPERVISES: Training & Professional Development Specialist, Training Client Support Specialist
SUMMARY: The Coordinator of Training & Professional Development is responsible for the oversight and coordination of funder deliverables and performance standards for programming related to training in DuPage. Kane, and Lake Counties. Serves as external representation and liaison with respect to program/agency initiatives, provides technical, professional and programmatic guidance, consultation, and support to client constituencies as appropriate. The Training & Professional Development Coordinator manages a team and is knowledgeable of contracts and program requirements including IDHS contractual obligations, Head Start Performance Standards, and Illinois State Board of Education grant expectations.
COLLABORATES WITH: Training and Professional Development Associate Director; other YWCA staff members; manages relationships with the potential and current ECE professionals, programs, key stake holders within service delivery area.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Member Contact: Works in partnership with the Training and Professional Development Associate Director and collaboratively with Youth and Family Potential leadership team to support the professional development needs of early childhood professionals. Serves as lead in the planning of signature events and offers presentations to providers, agencies and corporations about the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago services. Establish and maintain working relationships with outside agencies and community groups to work towards meeting local training needs and strengthen the agency’s presence in the communities it serves. Participate in advocacy efforts related to child care through active involvement in professional organizations. Use appropriate judgment in upward communication regarding client or member concerns.
Supervisory Duties: Direct supervision of 2 team members and management of workflow related to training. Create strong relationships of trust and respect. Monitor performance, celebrate accomplishments and growth, address work performance issues as needed for all assigned team members. Ensuring that program goals, deadlines and performance standards are met.
Administrative Duties: Ongoing monitoring of data entry pertaining to training to ensure contract compliance. Generate reports, spreadsheets and other documentation for the program on a regular basis to track work progress. Develop an ongoing marketing plan to support and ensure the success of programming related training and agency initiatives. Collect, analyze and evaluate data related to training; organize, interpret and present it in meaningful oral or written form for varied audiences and provide solid analysis leading to sound decision-making. Issue reports of all findings on an ongoing basis and provide systematic follow-up to all program functions.
Office Management: Serve as lead with managing and updating the internal training spaces within the office. Ensuring areas are cleaned, organized, and stocked with all materials needed.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in administrative and program meetings and trainings as appropriate to stay informed on priorities, raise issues and provide feedback
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task or other assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bi-lingual preferred. At least one year of experience related to Early Childhood, or a related field, is required; greater experience of up to three years is preferred. One year of supervisory experience is required. Intermediate level of skills with MS Office and Outlook are required; skills with database management, proficiency with spreadsheets and internet search applications are necessary. Marketing and collaborative experience in community outreach is highly preferred. The position requires effective presentation planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills. Effective oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of the local service area in DuPage, Kane, and Lake counties is advantageous.
The Training & Professional Development Coordinator must have demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. As a YWCA representative to community groups, the Training & Professional Development Coordinator must represent the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago professionally.
Discretion is required for the handling of documents and for member concerns. Demonstrated respect and appreciation for working in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural work environment must be evident.
Professional Training Required: A minimum of fifteen (15) hours of professional training related to Early Childhood and/or to the responsibilities of the position is required annually.
*Note: A bilingual Training and Professional Development Coordinator who works with a foreign language speaking community must demonstrate cultural competency with that community and fluency in both English and the community’s language (oral and written).
EDUCATION REQUIRED: An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Project Management, Child Development, Social Work or a related field, or certification of study or comparable length and area of study, is required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Training and Professional Development Coordinator is a multi-site position. The physical work environment includes offices; members and visitors may visit with children. The noise level is usually moderate. Movement requirements include walking, stooping or kneeling. There may be a need to reach, lift or move objects, such as packages, supplies and computers. Normal (or corrected) vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols are necessary to the work, which may require close viewing. Occasionally may need to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Communication needs include seeing, hearing and speaking. While in the office, there will be periods of sitting, holding a telephone and using computers. WORK SCHEDULE: Hybrid schedule Monday – Friday, 3 days on site/in the office & 2 days remote. This position may require work on some evenings and weekends. schedule can vary depending on the needs of the agency.
