Training and Development Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position will supervise training at all levels and will work with employment, labor relations, affirmative action and other HR activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees training – Onboarding and Orientation, Alchemy (plus Coach), and Floor Training
- Responsible for qualifications of new employees
- Manages new hire retention to include round tables, weekly evaluations, trainee feedback
- Supports safety and production in maintaining annual safety and machine specific training-includes animal handling.
- Supervises the day-to-day administration of policies and practices at assigned location.
- Recommends program changes or enhancements to meet human resource requirements.
- Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
- May represent company at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Helps ensure HR Department is prepared for HR Audit
- Responsible for tracking of equipment for all employees including lockers, knives, protective equipment.
- Administer time keeping in Kronos for trainers and trainees
- Coordinate training throughout the plant: New Hire Orientation through qualification phase
- Oversee and meet with Production trainers to insure they are successful in new hire training
- Be a mentor to our Trainers to ensure that all new hires are assigned a trainer when they get placed on the production floor.
- Ensure alchemy training is at 100% annually
- Monitor payroll and vacations for training department
- Maintain inventory of training supplies includes mesh/ ppe
- Read and follow-up on weekly new-hire evaluations
- Evaluate work performance of trainers, classroom instructors, and clerk
- Perform disciplinary procedures ranging from verbal warnings to terminations.
- Control of lockers
- Control of ID issue
- Develop and update forms for training
- Follow-up on all department issues
- Spend time on production floor to determine production needs.
- Open Door to all employee concerns
- Initiate and implement ideas for improving training
- Job performance is measured by HR Director on such criteria as attainment of training goals and minimizing turnover. Additional criteria may include, but not be limited to, knowledge of work and quality.
EDUCATION: Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; however, additional related work experience will be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
EXPERIENCE:
- Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
- Must be able to work additional hours/weekends as needed.
- Bilingual preferred.
The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time off: sick leave, vacation and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): eligible after the 1st day of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
- Base salary range of $54,220 - $73,196
This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
