WHAT OUR DEPARTMENT DOES
The Human Resources Department supports the Foundation’s mission by providing quality customer service and guidance in the areas of recruitment and onboarding, compensation and benefits administration, training, and employee relations. Responsibilities:YOUR ROLE IN CREATING THE UNIVERSITY’S PRESENT AND FUTURE
Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Training and Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting the Sr. Training and Compliance Business Partner with creating, coordinating, facilitating and tracking the training and professional development programs for employees. This position is responsible for generating and monitoring training status reports and the communications to managers to ensure compliance with applicable laws, CSU system requirements, and grant parameters.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO
- Assist with assessing training and development needs for SDSURF employees.
- Organize, plan, and present various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training.
- Engage with subject matter experts to assist the Sr. Training and Compliance Business Partner with creating and/or acquiring training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
- Co-facilitate large and small group sessions utilizing a variety of facilitation styles and techniques such as experiential learning, simulations, and activities.
- Handle logistics associated with delivering learning initiatives and projects such as communication and scheduling, materials preparation, room reservations, setup/cleanup, class registration, ordering supplies, and audio/visual equipment arrangements.
- Market training opportunities for employees and provide information to encourage participation.
- Record and edit training videos.
- Maintain and update the training calendar and intranet website.
- Participate in ongoing review of human resource policies and processes to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
- Create and maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements to ensure timely compliance.
- Create reports, gather, review, and produce documents and information in response to audits and requests for information.
- Respond to general training and compliance questions.
- Create and send email communications to notify and remind employees of mandatory training requirements and due dates.
- Participate in working groups and committees formed to revise and improve processes.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources and/or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- One year of professional human resources work experience.
THE SKILLS WE NEED
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
- Ability to create and edit videos.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
- Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Proficiency with Zoom interactive tools and Google workspace.
- Knowledge of the principles of human resource administration.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and consult with individuals at all organizational levels by establishing relationships based on personal credibility, trust, and respect.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with a learning management system.
- Experience with Zoom interactive tools.
- Experience with creating and editing videos.
- Experience in the training (or related) field, preferably in higher education or non-profit
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate or present in person or virtual training programs.
