Position Summary:
Correctly perform DOT & PM Inspections on trailers. Repair or replace damaged or worn parts, including brakes, air system, electrical system and suspension components. Perform welding and fabrication repairs. Ensure all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determines necessary mechanical, electrical, or other areas that need repair to meet the customer’s expectations.
- Correctly performs DOT & PM Inspections on trailers.
- Understand foundation brake systems with ability to diagnose and repair
- Knowledge of air system operation with ability to diagnose and repair
- Welding and fabrication of steel and aluminum.
- Repair electrical systems and wiring. Lighting, ABS, Etc…
- Assists customers on service calls.
- Correctly completes all forms, timecards, parts requests, or any other documents associated with trailer repairs.
- Represents Quality Truck Care Center in a professional manner, remaining friendly and courteous in all customer and coworker interactions.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment to protect from injury.
- Keeps work areas clean and free of clutter.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, CDL preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical Requirements:
- Self-Motivated
- Ability to talk and hear.
- Ability to walk up and down one full flight of stairs to reach office areas, storage rooms and meeting rooms.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and to manipulate tools.
- Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull.
- Ability to see with close vision.
- Ability to communicate with others verbally (telephone and in person) and in written communication methods.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist and carry.
