Description
Works in support of manufacturing operations by producing compliant machined parts using manual and CNC machining equipment. This position operates primarily at headquarters. Must be comfortable working in a machine shop and manufacturing environment. Must be comfortable working in relatively hot and cold temperatures. Must be willing to assist with other manufacturing operations as needed if there is no machining to be done. This may include the operation of saws or plasma cutting, cutting, grinding, kitting, delivery driving, fabrication, welding, assembly, painting, and rigging. Must be comfortable working at elevated heights.
Key Responsibilities
Job Requirements may include the following. Per the direction of the Shop Supervisors and/or Manufacturing Program Manager, other duties may be assigned to the position.
- Attend work on the schedule established by the employer and without excessive absenteeism.
- Must maintain professionalism while working
- Reads and interprets blueprints including machine drawing details and symbols, welding symbols, dimensions and tolerances, and GD&T
- Operates manual and CNC lathes and milling machines
- Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task
- Plans proper sequence of tasks and operations to complete the job including tool selection and planning of fixturing, setups and work holding
- Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary
- Use precision measuring tools to evaluate conformity to job requirements in process and upon completion of part manufacturing
- Document objective quality evidence as required
- Identify need for and perform machine maintenance and minor repairs
- Maintain a safe and clean workstation
- Watches out for the safety of co-workers
- Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Take direction effectively from shop foreman and managers, ask appropriate questions, and maintain a positive attitude
Ancillary duties to be performed as necessary if there is no machining to be performed:
- Participate in manufacturing operations as needed through the safe and effective us of band saws, magnetic drills, shear, press brake, CNC plasma table, ironworker, grinders, and painting equipment
- Move materials safely using overhead cranes, forklifts, aerial lifts etc.
- Ability to stand, twist, bend, kneel, climb, pull & push greater than 75lbs, for long periods of time.
- Use basic hand tools; tape measures, squares, levels, drills, clamps, hammers, etc.

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Vocational training including certificate or diploma in machining required
- Some experience may be substituted for vocational training
- We are willing to train the right candidate

- Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, precision and safety
- Strong ability to plan, think critically, and extrapolate experience to apply to future work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in math
