Responsibilities/ Assignments that you may be involved
- Will lead the development of key strategies for the program assigned success
- Leads the Engineering to Support Production (ESIP) team in the execution of contract scope by leading the team though the evaluation and resolution of problem reports in alignment with the needs of platforms Production Program to maintain on-time delivery of vehicles to the customer.
- Ensures high quality corrective actions are developed, validated and approved through the GDLS change and validation process.
- When required, will plan and manage individual projects that pose a significant risk to the production program.
- Will manage projects within the agreed upon scope, schedule and budget to the highest quality.
- Will understand and able to apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of project management to plan and execute the assigned programs engineering projects. This includes creating the project plans and schedules by working with ED&T (Engineering, Design & Technology) and other functional organizations with GDLS.
- Will provide technical leadership to other functional organizations (PMO, SCM, M&CS, Finance, etc…) as necessary to ensure successful problem resolution and maintaining ongoing production of the program
- Will lead the GDLS Engineering interface for the customer (PM ABCT) and will bridge to the larger GDLS engineering team
- Ensures the team is aligned to meet the customer’s needs in accordance with the contract and internal direction from GDLS Program office
- Will forecast the engineering manpower for the project/program that candidate is assigned
- Provides status of projects and any corrective action activities at various meetings within GDLS and with the customer
- Develops and presents executive level summaries to various levels of GDLS leadership
- Utilizes established metrics for monitoring project performances
- Will manage and lead the team through proposal and contracting activities as required for the engineering area of responsibility
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / What you must have
- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering- Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering preferred (other technical and business degrees will be considered with relevant experience.)
- MBA or advance businesses degree a plus
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the defense industry desired. (Will consider less years based on advanced degrees)
- Demonstrated project engineering and /or program experience overseeing various complex technical projects
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification a plus
- Excellent communication skills required: written, verbal and presentation
- Organizational capabilities to direct and lead others in a team-based environment
- Analytical skills and ability to be able to direct and consult on technical issues and perform analysis
- Knowledge/experience with business finances, Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), scheduling tools and critical path analysis
- Must have experience with US gov’t programs (DoD)
- The candidate will need to have knowledge and understanding of GDLS products, processes and capabilities
- Team / Matrix management experience preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
- Experienced with developing and presenting of presentations using a variety of methods of media display
Additional Information
- This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
- Must be willing to work in an office, lab, proto-type and test site environments.
- The candidate will need to have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Able to work overtime when required.
- This position will require travel up to 20% when needed (both domestic and/or foreign) as needed
