POSITION PURPOSEThe Total Rewards Manager plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and administering Zumiez’s compensation and benefits programs. This role oversees strategy development, short- and long-term planning, plan design, and financial oversight of our compensation, recognition, and benefit programs for the U.S. and Canadian employee population.
This position manages the work of the Total Rewards Team, planning for and implementing the training, goal setting, and the execution of day-to-day tasks.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Benefits
- Administer employee benefits programs such as 401(k) plans, health programs, term life insurance plans, disability programs, flexible spending accounts, ESPP, and EAP.
- Manage a decentralized benefits system, including coordinating and overseeing a variety of health and welfare providers and vendors to ensure the effective delivery of employee benefits.
- Ensure the Company is in compliance with existing legal employment requirements (EEO/AAP, FLSA, wage-hour, HIPPA, etc.), and provide ongoing monitoring of legislative changes impacting benefit programs.
- Oversee various reporting activities (e.g., annual non-discrimination testing on qualified plans, participation in benefits surveys, and responding to government requests for information).
- Collect, analyze and maintain data to inform competitive reward programs at the highest quality for the lowest possible cost. Counsel leaders on overall compensation and benefits strategy and the employee value proposition.
- Lead the annual benefits renewal process, including vendor review and analysis of plans, provider negotiations, and plan design and refinement; develop leadership and employee communications.
- Event Support: Support National and Home Office events, including attending training, participating in planning committees, and assisting with ad hoc projects.
Compensation
- Plan, develop, and implement compensation and performance programs, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee the regular market pricing of new and benchmark jobs; analyze market data trends and impact on Zumiez; ensure competitiveness of compensation programs
- Review and make recommendations for compensation policies, budgeting, and processes.
- Serve as a Compensation Advisor to Management throughout the organization.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or finance preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with compensation and benefit plan design and administration preferred.
- Strong knowledge of regulations related to compensation and benefits ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FLSA, ADA, and FMLA.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, strong detail orientation, and ability to multi-task with limited direction.
- Excellent customer service and communications skills at all levels of the organization.
- General understanding of payroll processes and HRMS configuration.
- Flexible and Agile, with the ability to plan and execute well in a fast-paced organization.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with sensitive employee information.
- Experience with multi-state benefits and compensation compliance and administration.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to sit at a workstation in an office environment for extended periods of time and work on a PC without limitations.
