While reporting directly to the BFT or HST Supervisor, the following job description outlines the essential functions of each level of role within the tooling department. The following lists are not exhaustive, and the employee in each of these roles is expected to assume any and all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in the following. What You’ll Be Doing: Ability to assemble basic tooling without supervision Specializes in one type of tooling: Blister Form or Heat Seal Ability to train new assemblers on their respective tooling type Routine rework such as: replacing/installing heli-coils or thread inserts, fix scratches and dents, flattening warped plates, etc. Manual machining on knee mills and lathes to tolerances of +/-0.010” or better Proficient print reading and shop math Operation of other manual machine shop equipment: hole punch machine, hydraulic press, radial arm drill, drill press, riser drill, surface grinder, etc. Precision measuring with dials, calipers, indicators, depth mics, etc. Proficiently polish molds and plugs to production standards Deburr and break all sharp edges of parts Drill tiny vacuum holes in molds Operate bead blaster machine to put a production-level finish on molds We’d love to hear from you if: All skills of Die Polisher High School or equivalent, vocational or journeyman+ preferred Ability to read/write and follow verbal and written instructions Ability to read, understand and work from blueprints, sketches, and work orders Fundamental skills as machinist in metal fabrication, tool making, and mold construction Understanding of tolerances and precision measuring Basic computer experiences with file processing, email, Web navigation, and MS office Must have a working knowledge of shop math and general hand tools Handling/prepping of raw materials; Milling, Turning, Saw, Drill, Polish, and Assembly of tooling components Healthy attitude to work within a team environment At Sonoco Products Company, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package, including competitive pay and benefits. *Benefits listed below are for employees located in the U.S. Specific benefits and wellbeing programs may vary depending on your location (within the U.S. or global), or if you are a union employee.
