Tool Room Supervisor
Location: Cary, NC

Our client, a small but dynamic contract injection molding company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Tool Room Supervisor to oversee and manage the operations of their Tool Room. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plastics injection molding, with extensive experience in mold construction, maintenance, and repair.
Position Overview
As the Tool Room Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the Tool Room team and ensuring the effective construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair of molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other equipment. This is a hands-on role requiring technical expertise and leadership to support production schedules and maintain high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Tool and Die Work:
- Plan, construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges.
- Diagnose and correct issues in complex dies and tools.
- Revise and repair press components as needed.
- Maintenance and Operations:
- Maintain Tool Room equipment and machinery.
- Analyze issues with new tooling and propose effective solutions.
- Collaboration:
- Work with the Engineering Department on new and existing jobs.
- Support production departments indirectly by ensuring tool quality.
- Supervision and Training:
- Provide leadership, training, and support to Tool Room personnel.
- Develop and enforce safety procedures within the department.
- Quality and Planning:
- Control the quality of work in the Tool Room and ensure adherence to production schedules.
- Interpret and administer management policies and decisions.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of a four-year state apprenticeship certified Journeyman program, or equivalent experience (eight years) as a Tool and Die Maker.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in a plastics injection molding environment.
- Previous supervisory experience is required.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and a strong working knowledge of Tool Room equipment and tools.
Skills:
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of tool room equipment, injection molding processes, and blueprint reading.
- Soft Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and self-management skills.
- People Skills: Ability to train and manage personnel, resolve conflicts, and maintain a collaborative environment.
