Tool and Laser Maintenance Technician
Summary:
The Tool and Laser Maintenance Technician position is located at a customer facility. They are responsible for operating laser tracker equipment and the completing day to day tool and equipment maintenance activity to meet quality standards and customer’s needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs recurring planned maintenance
• Performance emergent maintenance and repair activity as needed
• Inspects, tests, and verifies accuracy of assembled article for conformance to standards, using measuring or testing equipment, or by visual examination.
• Demonstrates a complete understanding of the principles and use of applicable optical equipment and computer aided measuring equipment such as laser trackers.
• Fabricate and prove optical and mechanical accessories to adapt and modify optical instruments and similar equipment used in building and checking major tooling.
• In-process inspection and final inspection of parts, sub-assemblies during manufacturing per customer requirements.
• Measures and marks reference lines and points on parts according to specifications, using templates, rules, or marking devices.
• Prepares, breakdown of jigs and fixtures, tool masters or master tooling gauges into components.
• Performs assignments that range from the use of ordinary operations to performing work involving accurate relationships and extremely close tolerances.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
• Associates degree or technical accreditation.
• Must have prior tooling and equipment maintenance relatable experience
• Must have a minimum of one year of experience working with laser trackers, model-based metrology, analyzing data, and report generation.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements:
• This position may require a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
List of needed knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully accomplish the duties and responsibilities of the job.
• Solid understanding of aerospace tooling and equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic)
• Recent tooling and equipment maintenance experience
• Recent experience of operating Faro, API, Leica laser trackers using preferably Verisurf or Spatial Analyzer software is required.
• Use in-depth familiarity of GD&T; to interpret blueprints at all assembly levels.
• Discern how best to establish a reference system for the current task then apply it and install it both on and off the part.
• Collect geometric data via laser tracker through model-based software such as Verisurf.
• Provide analysis of collected data and evaluate it to provide direction for remaining operations.
• Integrate process monitoring with the assembly process in locating details.
• Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
• Behaves consistently and predictably; is reliable, responsible and dependable in fulfilling obligations and diligently follows through on commitments and consistently meets deadlines.
• Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.
• Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
• Understands how to use the computers, including such tasks as turning the computer on and off, locating and opening files, navigate to websites, perform searches, and download files.
• Knowledge of computer applications including email, databases, word-processing program and spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Office).
• Respond and follow up to a customer’s inquiry or problem in a timely and effective manner.
• Identifies problems and review relevant information to develop options, then implement the solutions.
• Comfortable communicating and working with different levels of management, team members and customers.

• Indoors. Production and office environment. Temperature controlled, unless products and/or equipment is located outdoors.

Work Hours:
• Standard work schedule, overtime may be necessary for meeting deadlines, required travel, and emergent conditions.
