Electroswitch Machining Center, located in Rockland MA is currently seeking an experience Supervisor for our Tool & Die department. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position will supervise, plan, organize and coordinate the work assigned to the tool and die, molding, punch press, large and small broaches, and CNC functions.
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Schedule, prioritize and assign work to employees in designated areas. Monitor and check work assignments to ensure quality and timely completions of orders.
Hire, train, discipline, and terminate employees. Conduct performance reviews and make recommendations. Approve or disapprove vacations, sick time, leave of absence, overtime, and any excused absence. Recommend and justify the hiring of temporary employees.
Design dies and fixtures using AutoCAD or other related computer design systems, build and run all dies, fixtures, gages and molds. Including the assembly and subassembly tooling at both locations. Maintain tool maintenance records. Trouble shoot any problems with the manufacturing of parts and equipment that may occur in the course of the day.
Order supplies and materials as needed to ensure compliance with production time.
Assess and make recommendations regarding work to be completed by outside vendors.
Assist in the acquisition process of new equipment and tooling in the Rockland Plant.
Work with Engineering Department on new product tooling and fabrication of prototype parts. Recommend production methods on tooling for new parts coming into the plant. Quote tooling costs for new products. Specify tooling required to assure a flow of parts into production. Write routings for new parts.
Responsible for hazardous waste system operation, labeling, training and the removal of waste that cannot be evaporated by company system.
Write procedure sheets for operations of equipment in areas and to manufacture some parts complete. Work with expeditors and shipping and receiving to insure a smooth flow of materials in and out of the facility. Maintain purchase order and work order system.
Responsible for updating the Rockland Plant layout drawing with any changes.
Monitor work areas for safety compliance.
Secure, close, and open the facility as needed.
Ensure the smooth transfer of work to extended shifts, if needed.
Perform other duties as assigned or as may be necessary.
Work with the Quality Department on requirements for gages; SPC, approving piece parts for manufacture in the absence of Quality personnel and the writing of IR’S and corrective action when needed.

This position requires four years of technical training in tool design using AutoCAD, drafting, machining, and management equivalent to a two-year technical college degree with five to seven years of related experience including supervisory experience and strong communication skills.
