Responsibilities:
Our Material Handling Group is seeking a full-time Tire Technician for our East Syracuse, NY branch. Tire technicians will provide professional installation of industrial tires on material handling equipment. The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:
- Install tires on various material handling equipment, primarily forklifts
- Safely operate a single axle 26-foot box truck with a self-contained industrial tire press
- Ensure work orders are filled out correctly
- Put away tires/stock in warehouse
- Load trucks daily with inventory needed, unload scrap at end of day
- Maintain company truck (wash/clean, check fluids, daily walk around inspection)
- Fill out monthly truck inspection/condition form
- Maintain professional appearance
- Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time
- Salary range from $28/hr-$32/hr based on experience
Qualifications:
- Previous tire industry experience is preferred
- Experience operating a forklift, hydraulic tire press, pneumatic impact and torque wrench is preferred
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Valid Chauffeurs License with a clean driving record is required
- DOT Medical Certification required upon hire
- Language Skills - Basic: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills - Basic: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Reasoning Ability - Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use hands, talk/hear; Frequently will stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; Occasionally will climb or balance, taste/smell
- Vision: No special vision requirements
- Lift and/or Move Functions: Frequently will lift from 25 to 100+ pounds
- Work Environment: Regularly will work near moving mechanical parts, vibration; Frequently will work in outdoor weather conditions; Occasionally will work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), fumes or airborne particles, extreme hear (non-weather related), risk of electrical shock
