Position Overview:
Edgesource is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tier 1 Cloud System Administrator to join our team supporting 24x7 operations in a dynamic Linux Cloud environment. As a critical member of our team, you’ll be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our cloud infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime and seamless service for both internal and external customers. This position offers an excellent opportunity to expand your expertise in cloud technologies and Linux systems, while working alongside a dedicated IT team in a fast-paced and collaborative setting. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, responding promptly to critical issues and maintaining high-quality standards. This role will require rotating shift work and for all duties to be performed onsite at the facility in the Chantilly, VA area.
Job Duties:
- Administer and maintain Linux-based cloud infrastructure, ensuring system performance, availability, and uptime across cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and OpenStack.
- Provide tier-1 support for internal and external customers, diagnosing and resolving system, network, and cloud-related issues promptly and professionally.
- Monitor system health, performance, and security; identify potential issues proactively and take corrective action before they affect operations.
- Maintain detailed documentation on system configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and process consistency.
- Develop and implement IT policies and procedures that ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Work closely with the IT team to implement and maintain cloud technologies, while developing your skills and sharing knowledge with peers.
- Ensure that all help desk requests are addressed promptly, accurately, and professionally.
- Proven experience supporting Linux-based systems in a cloud environment. Experience with AWS, Azure, and OpenStack is highly desirable.
- Manage routine system backups, perform disaster recovery procedures, and ensure that critical data is protected and recoverable
- Participate in rotating on-call shifts to provide technical support during non-business hours, ensuring system stability around the clock.
- Assist with user training on system and network administration topics to empower both internal and external teams with best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- 3+ years of experience as a system administrator, with a strong focus on cloud-based solutions and help desk operations
- Proven experience supporting Linux-based systems in a cloud environment
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure, Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.)
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues related to systems, networks, and cloud environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide clear and concise technical support and documentation
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Comfortable with working under pressure and responding quickly to critical issues
- Must be available to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
- Active Security+ certification OR willing to obtain prior to hire if not currently certified (costs reimbursed to employee)
- Active Azure Fundamentals and/or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification OR willing to obtain prior to hire if not currently certified (costs reimbursed to employee)
Desired Qualifications (NOT REQUIRED):
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Relevant technical certifications
