We are urgently seeking a Therapeutic Activity Director to lead and implement engaging, person-centered therapeutic activities at our Adult Day Health Program in Brockton, MA. Key Responsibilities:
Program Development: Design and implement individualized therapeutic activity programs for each participant.
Team Supervision: Oversee and guide Program Aides in delivering therapeutic activities.
Activity Planning & Scheduling: Organize and coordinate a variety of events and activities, ensuring an inclusive and engaging calendar.
Documentation: Contribute to participants' comprehensive assessments and care plans, documenting progress and preferences every 90 days or as needed.
Calendar Management: Create and post a monthly calendar of activities and events in a visible location for participants and families.
Participant Engagement: Monitor and adjust activities based on participant needs, preferences, and reactions to ensure ongoing engagement and satisfaction.
Collaborative Support: Assist with other services as needed to maintain a high standard of care and support.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this role, you must meet one of the following:
Certification: Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activities Professional by an accrediting body recognized by the Department.
Occupational Therapy: Qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Experience: At least two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, including one full-time year in an activities program in a healthcare setting.
Note: If not certified or licensed as a specialist, the director must consult with or adopt a model program developed with an Occupational Therapist to ensure participants’ needs are met.
Required Skills:
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Creativity in planning engaging and inclusive activities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in participant assessment and care planning.
Knowledge of working with diverse populations, including those with Alzheimer’s and related conditions.
Work Authorization:
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
