The Visual Arts Center of Richmond (VisArts) believes in celebrating and supporting the creative life of all people through artmaking, exhibitions and community programs. They have been living out their vision - "Art for everybody! Creativity for life!" - for 60 years and have helped more than 40,000 individuals each year find and unlock their creative self. VisArts offers more than 1,000 visual and creative arts classes annually in clay, wood, fiber, painting, photography, printmaking, glass, metal, drawing, writing, decorative arts, and other visual media. They are currently looking for their next Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
The Marketing + Communications Coordinator is a vital member of the organization's Marketing + Communications team. They are responsible for leading the organization's storytelling on social media, implementing a strategy that supports the organization's marketing goals to increase awareness of VisArts' mission and programs and increase earned income. They will also support the Marketing + Communications team with tasks related to maintaining the website and supporting mailings and print distribution.

Compensation Package Includes
- Starting annual base salary range of $38,000 - 50,000

Job responsibilities:
- Creates photo, video, and written content for VisArts' digital channels, with special focus on social media.
- Manages VisArts' social media profiles: planning the content calendar, monitoring community comments and messages, and collecting insights to inform strategy.
- Reports on social media analytics, collaborating with the Director of Marketing + Communications to develop a digital strategy for each social media platform.
- Maintains the organization's photography repository in SmugMug. Books professional photographers for large-scale events and takes photographs at small-scale events and programs. Documents both adult and youth classes on an ongoing basis. Uploads all photos to the organization's photography repository and ensures they're tagged accordingly. Provides training and support to staff who need access.
- Collaborates with the graphic designer to create social media-friendly graphics and videos that are consistent with the VisArts brand.
- Coordinates the distribution of VisArts' course catalogs (five per year), maintaining distribution lists from across the organization.
- Manages VisArts' Featured Illustrator Program, coordinating with illustrators throughout the year.
- Collaborates with the marketing team to create 2-3 short form videos a year (5-7 minutes) for special events or exhibitions.
- Assists with other marketing tasks as needed, including graphic design projects, updating local event calendars, website maintenance using WordPress, etc.

Required qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a related field
- Experience managing social media profiles for a brand, utilizing scheduling and reporting tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout, Later, Meta Business Suite, etc.
- Experience producing photo or video content optimized for social media
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with website content management, particularly WordPress
- Familiarity with email marketing in Constant Contact or similar program
- Basics in graphic design and video editing
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere)
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some movement is required. The ability to walk, drive, lift boxes and stand for long periods of time is required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for job duties.
