This position is critical to maintain the overall integrity of all company’s products. The Product Development Manager will manage technical style details and finalize new product to prepare for bulk production. All products including apparel, footwear, bags, accessories, and licensed goods.
More information: This is not a designer role, more "someone who works magic in a fitting session", as there is someone who does the design and then this person would help execute the work. Candidate needs a fine blend of skills, strong fabric people / textiles - Knits, Wovens, Silhouette understanding - if a piece of clothing looks funny, how do we fix it? And will work together as a team to fix. Needing a Fabric person helping with product development - tech pack, lab dips / color, measuring fabric, quality testing etc.

Job Details
Location: Durham, NC - on-site
Salary: $70k + 20% bonus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Build and maintain style information and tech packs in our PLM system.
- Create product specs, grade sizes for new product models, and manage information in the PLM system
- Manage the product evaluation process. Measure products and fit throughout the development process, adjust specs, and make construction recommendation as needed.
- Collaborate with designers to finalize/commercialize all styles for bulk and hand off to the production team.
- Communicate regularly with factories and mills to ensure accurate sample execution
- Component entry and details in PLM and manage lab dips, strike offs and other color and surface design development.
- Troubleshoot product for construction or trim quality concerns including heat seals, snaps, buttons, zippers and overall craftsmanship with careful attention to detail
- Communicate regularly with the Quality and Compliance Manager to transition products from development to bulk and TOP samples
- Manage competitor product comparisons, internal product comparisons and other ongoing projects.
COMPETENCIES:
- Exceptional skills in Adobe Illustrator, PLM, and Excel
- Thrives at working as part of a highly collaborative team, contributing excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Outstanding time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple deadlines and priorities
- Accurate and extremely detailed organizational methods with a strong attention for detail and an eye for quality.
- Self-motivated independent worker who will speak up when needed, using exceptional communication skills.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must have 2-3 years of experience in apparel business
- Experience with a PLM database
- Proven high skill level with Excel, Word, and Outlook required
- BA/BS degree in textiles, textile development
- 2D pattern experience preferred
- Accurate color vision, with a keen eye for color, hue, and depth. The Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test will be used as the benchmark.
