Overview
Leading food manufacturing company looking for an experienced Testing Technician III. Ideal candidates should be comfortable working with laboratory testing instruments and other mechanical equipment in a loud and hot environment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting in research, prepare materials, conduct heat penetration test – with training and gathering data for packaged food products.
- Ensure that products perform correctly.
- Perform tests on manufactured products.
- Assemble equipment.
- Calibrate equipment.
- Improve equipment.
- Maintain equipment.
- Give reports on defects.
Requirements
- Science and lab courses completed, or lab experience with physical and/or analytical testing.
- Years of relevant experience: 0-2 years thermal processing related work.
- Comfortable working with laboratory testing instruments - with training (e.g. scales, pH meter, product and package analysis instruments)
- Comfortable working on high pressure steam retorts in loud & hot environment – with training and occasionally requires lifting (up to 50 lbs)
- Comfortable working with mechanical stuff (nuts, bolts, oils, wires, etc.)
- Possesses basic math skills. Hands-on, detail oriented, comfortable with following standardized procedures for conducting tests.
- Creates neat and complete documentation of test results on standardized data forms.
- Comfortable working in area shared with others, completing daily routine tasks related to test set-up, food product analysis, and test materials assemble and disassemble.
- Ability to collect data using specialized computer software and able to interpret data on the fly, determining if testing is proceeding successfully.
- Must ensure tests are conducted, data is collected accurately and documented neatly & completely.
- With training, capable of observing and documenting product characteristics that differ from expected.
- Must be detail oriented, comfortable with following standardized procedures for conducting tests.
- Comfortable taking direction from others.
- Has good judgment, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.
