Summary:
The Test Technician I is an entry level position that is responsible for performing various tasks in the Tire Testing Department. These tasks range from tire testing support functions to basic tire tests such as measuring tire dimensions.
Responsibilities:- Record important tire information prior to mounting on the test rim and clearly writing this information on the test tire and test forms.
- Prepare tire test samples by mounting them on the approved test rim and setting the inflation pressure of the tire.
- Mark up and prepare tires for cut section analysis according to operational procedures.
- Prepare tire sections by safely operating various tire cutting and belt sanding equipment.
- Assist with inbound and outbound tire and equipment shipments as needed.
- Assist warehouse personnel with checking and updating the tire inventory as required.
- Perform static tire tests such as dimensional analysis, tire footprints and static tire characteristics.
- Assist with installing, inspecting, and removing tires from various dynamic tire test machines such as Rolling Resistance, High Speed Endurance and Durability.
- Perform basic data entry of tire measurements and information into the test management system.
- Attend safety training and follow proper safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized working environment.
- Good communication skills. Able to work well in a group and follow supervision.
- Strong Technical Competence.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
- High School Diploma.
- A minimum of 1 years of tire testing or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Forklift Certification is a plus.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods of time while working on a computer.
- Ability to repeat motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Must be able to repetitively operate handheld tools that vibrate the hands, wrists and arms.
- Employees must possess the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull and move materials and objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and then roll large tires on the ground weighing up to 200 pounds with or without assistance.
- Must be able to remain standing or moving on feet for prolong periods of time.
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Occasionally work indoors in a warehouse or manufacturing plant environment where temperature regulation may be inconsistent, and where there is exposure to noise, and machinery.
- Must be able to squat and bend down to perform various tasks from removing tire/wheel assemblies from vehicles to performing tire inspections on vehicles regularly.
